Chapter 3
Vocabulary
Equal Groups- Groups that have the same amount of objects in each group.
Factor- A number that is multiplied by another number to find the product. EX: 4 x 3 = 12
Product- The answer in a multiplication problem. EX: 4 x 3 = 12
Multiply- When you combine equal groups, you ca multiply to find how many in all; the opposite operation of division.
Array- A set of objects arranged in rows and columns.
Commutative Property of Multiplication- States that you can multiply two factors in any order and get the same product. EX: 4 x 3 = 3 x 4 (both equations equal 12)
Identity Property of Multiplication- States that the product of any number and 1 is that number.
EX: 5 x 1 = 5; 1 x 5 = 5
Zero Property of Multiplication- States that the product of any number and 0 is ZERO.
EX: 7 x 0 = 0; 0 x 7 = 0
